This is the inception of DC Chainstay. This will be a place where you can find:
- thoughtful discussion of the role that cycling plays within the larger context of sustainability
- critique of the ongoings in the world of cycling from products to politics
- ongoing dialog regarding issues facing cyclists, including access to roadways and trails
- cycling resources
- musings on all things bike related
This is a place born out of love - love for bicycles and for the environment. I truly believe that the bicycle can make the world a better place. It can help save the environment. The bicycle is the single most efficient machine ever invented and using it can help us decrease our ecological footprint and connect better with the natural environment. Bicycles can also play a crucial role in providing access to economic opportunities and basic health care for communities in the developing world.

This article basically summarizes my thoughts about biking & sustainability in America. It's from a 1994 Bridgestone catalogue and it also has a great article about metallurgy & the enviromental impact of certain metals (steel, aluminium, titanium).
